Get ‘em while you can!

We have a limited number of holiday hams (only 60 compared to the 400 turkeys at Thanksgiving).  They will go fast so we wanted to give you the first chance to get one of these special pork delights.

Our hams are from pasture raised Berkshire hogs.  These hogs roam the rolling hillsides of Chardon, Ohio in search for acorns, roots, bugs in the ground, grass, and anything they can get their snout on!  Their diet is also supplemented with a locally grown and milled, GMO-free mixture of corn, wheat, oats, and legumes.  They receive organic minerals in their diet (like a piggy vitamin) and they never receive any hormones or antibiotics.

Our hogs are butchered in Shiloh, Ohio by Newswanger Meats. I really like working with Galen at Newswangers because he always does a quality job and is dependable.  His ham recipe is amazing.  It all starts with a high quality input, a rub of brown sugar and other spices, and then real hickory smoke.  The result is a rich, tasty ham.  Or, as one of our customers says, “In goes a fresh ham, out comes an ‘epiphany ham.’”  Yeah, they are that good.

The hams are $50 for a half ham, which weighs approximately 8 to 10 lbs.  If any hams come in under 8 lbs we’ll supplement them with ham slices or breakfast patties.

We know entertaining is lots of fun.  We also know it is lots of work!  That’s why we’ve put together these other offerings to allow you to relax and still impress your guests!

Cheese trays-  include pre-cut, artisan cheeses from local, farmstead creameries.  All cheese trays will be on tin platters with garnish and apples.

Cheesecakes - Cheesecakes Susan knows what she’s doing.  I end up wasting $20 in cheese every time I try to make a cheesecake.  Susan, on the other hand, has perfected this art.  Try one of her delicious homemade cheesecakes or even a sampler package, including flavors like Bailey’s Irish Cream, Vanilla and Raspberry, or Peanut Butter Cup.

Pies – If you had one of the pumpkin or apple pies at Thanksgiving, you know how tasty Humble Pie’s baked goods are.  Diane is at it again working hard on preparing pies for your holiday parties.  She is offering an Ohio Apple Pie and a Pecan Pie.  Both pies include her signature, flaky crust, made with organic flour, organic local butter, and organic local pork lard!
